Joint Worship on Memorial Day Weekend - 3-May-2012
As with last Memorial Day weekend, Hope UMC will be part of an ecumenical worship service. The service will be held on Sunday, May 27th, at 9:00 a.m. at Chester Park UMC. The service will include people from Hope, Chester Park, Hillside, Pilgrim Congregational and the United Baptist Christian Church.
This is a wonderful opportunity to share worship with others in Duluth and to visit Chester Park UMC before it merges with First UMC in June. A joint choir (anyone who would like can participate!) will assemble at 815a to practice and the music can be gotten from our choir director. There are a number of steps at Chester Park so there is not full accessibility.
Please join us in celebrating worship as a larger faith community!

Year-End Celebration & Healthy Living Fair! - 3-May-2012
On Sunday, May 20th all of Hope’s faith community and friends are invited to celebrate spring and the end of the regular Sunday school program! This celebration is intergenerational, and this year we are adding an event especially for those who are looking to try something new in the area of healthy living. After the lunch provided for everyone, there will be games, including a cake walk, in the Fellowship Hall.
Upstairs in the Mathison Room and various locations there will be a Healthy Living Fair! Not only will there be informational materials about how to live a healthy life as we age but there will be health demonstrations. One of those demonstrations will be a chance to try energy massage and we are working on a demonstration of chair yoga as well where one sits on a chair and still gets the benefits of yoga. More ways to learn are being added and it should be interesting and fun.
So, children of all ages plan to invite your friends, stay for lunch and then play games and/or learn about healthy living on May 20th!
